Gingerbread
Aug. 22nd, 2005 02:56 pmWell, I made Gingerbread yesterday. Using the recepie
laidar provided me I went around to my parents house and used their kitchen. (5 of my kitchens would fit in theirs) Its a MUCH nicer place to cook then my own.
The opinion of the ginger bread: Very nice. Its a bit light. Nowhere near the dark gingerbread man brown that you get in the shops. IT MAY be the sort of sugat you use. I used castor sugar (because it wasnt specificed I assumed castor) but it may be that brown suger is the right stuff to use.
I DIDNT shape it at all well. I just cut it up as biscuits and cooked it in slabs. Now I know I can cook it reasonably well I will look for large trays and Aeroplane and other object cutouts.
Next Step: The hard icing used on gingerbread men normally. I'm REALLY not sure what it is.
I've always known I can cook. its just having 1) the place to cook, 2) the people to cook for.
