I had a great time there. There were a few moments when i was feeling a little washed out and drained just through lack of sleep and such but all in all i had a great time. There were some amazing people to chat to and once I get to know a few more of them I will feel a little more confident around them to introduce myself to more. (yes, that's right folks.. Dave is a social misfit). I think given another day or two around these people I would have started being a lot more social around them.

MOST of the panels i went to were very interesting, or raised very interesting issues that need to be looked into further.

I was surprised at how approachable Niel Gaiman and Richard Harland were. Before the weekend I didn't REALLY know who Neil Gaiman was. I had read his collaboration with Terry Pratchett but only focussed on the Terry pratchett name. I don't remember hearing of Richard Harland. But I actually had a few brief discussions with those guys. (Including one where I didn't REALISE i was talking to Neil Gaiman, I just thought he was another con goer.. I now know. ). Bother were incredibly friendly with everybody at the convention. In hindsight, them being well known writers who write the sort of work they do, its not surprising the sort of personality they were.

I don't know much about Poppy Z Brite, and I still don't. Apparently shes a little aloof and I didn't actually see much of her around the convention other than the times she was signing or on a panel.

I have Read some of Robin Hobbs work. A long time a go. but I do remember having read it. I didn't have much to do with her other than an initial conversation with a handful of other people (once again, when i didn't know who she was)

EDIT: Bit removed because I didnt feel i could do it justice.

Now I just have to learn to be more sociable and flirt a little bit with the right people.
