Advice: Buying a Dishwasher

I am going to buy a dishwasher for my kitchen. I have narrowed the field down to three dishwashers.

1) Dishlex DX303WK for $748
Made in Australia
Good energy rating: 233kw per year
Water rating 2 star although it says 16.8ltr

2) BOSCH SGS53E72AU For $862
Made in Germany
Good energy rating: 303kw per year
Water rating 4 star 11.3ltr wash

3) Fisher&Paykel DW60CDW2 for $740
Made in China
Good energy rating: 233kw per year
Water rating 4 star 13.6 ltrs wash

So the issue I have is which one do I choose.

If it wasnt down to WHERE the items were made then the F&P would be the one I chose...

What do other people say?

I'm thinking the ~$100 extra for the Bosch will be worth it for the build quality.

I haven't heard good things about the F&P. We have Mr Miele ... I would go Bosch.

My dad fixes them... he said that F&P stuff at the moment isn't holding together too well. He sees quite a few of them with very simple problems over and over and over. I'd go the Dishlex if that's one of the drawers, if not, the Bosch.

The dishlex is a normal stand up traditional dishwasher not a Draw one.

I know to avoid draw based systems as they DO have serious problems.

The F&P is off the list!

I'd always go for the Australian made if possible, but its water rating is lower than the others. When l bought my house it contained an ancient Dishlex, which still works.. and it would have to be 20 years old...

Bosch! It's a reliable brand, the ones made in Germany are supposed to be top notch, and water has to be the number one priority at the moment.

Out of interest, where did you find these brands? I'm also in the market for a dishwasher at the moment, though I've only looked at Choice so far.

I have been shopping at E & S Trading which is at the top of Blackburn road on 106 Whitehorse road Blackburn. next to the Kathmandu store.

Also Clive Peters in Ringwood.

However E&S is looking good because if I buy all this stuff at once I get a 15% discount because of a bulk buy.

I think I have already scrubbed the F&P model for two reasons: social reasons (made in china) and reliability reasons (a couple of people have said its unreliable)

As soon as I work out which of these damn dishwashers to get im going sign over the cash!

Actually just looking at the Choice review of these models (doesn't list the Dishlex), the F&P one rates higher than the Bosch one in terms of washing, drying and ease of use. However the Bosch one has better efficiency, has a higher water rating, fits 14 settings rather than 12 and only uses cold water (again more efficient, but a longer wash cycle). Given the reports I would chose the Bosch over the F&P, for the factors that are important to me.

Going by this report we're also looking at a Bosch, but I think it's the next model up - Mum and Dad are buying it for us, so we can go a bit more expensive :)

I THINK im leaning towards the Dishlex because its Australian made and It seems to be okay. It appears they use a different water rating to the other ones.. which is odd... It cant be so much less efficient for a new machine.

Okay the Dishlex IS only a 2 on the water rating...

so now I have to say "So I'm goign to use this twice a week only... is that an okay compromise.... "
