Smoke Detectors
May. 31st, 2004 09:38 amOne of the units next to my apartment in my apartment block is occupied by a couple for asian students. I have tried to converse with them and they cant speak English. For the past two weeks their smoke detector has been beeping to say "out of battery" at first it was every 5 minutes, and LOUD. Then it was every 30 seconds and LOUD. Now its every 30 seconds and it sounds like a pathetic little pip. HOWEVER its been beeping like this and they havent replaced the battery. They have been living there because I've seen them go in and out. And their lights are on in the evning.
You would think that you would deal with the smoke detector. Surly they have to have at least the knowledge of where the beep is coming from, the fact that its not normal and the nouse to if worst comes to worst, smash the damn thingg off the wall to stop the annoying beep!.
Not sure what i can do. they certainly dont understand "Your smoke detector needs a new battery" What if their unit catches on fire.
